Arts Council of the Brazos Valley changes name and brand

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Brazos Valley Arts Council is getting a makeover.

He has changed his name to Brazos Valley Arts Center.

The new name comes with a renewed mission to be a more inclusive community space for artists and art appreciators.

Moving forward, there will be a new logo design, revamped and expanded galleries, updated branding, and website updates.

The center’s executive director, Leslie Bowlin, told KBTX that the Arts Center also has a lot in the works for next year, including a Japanese art festival along with a Japanese Bamboo Flute Festival to be held at Texas A&M next spring.

“We have a lot of cultural things,” Bowlin hinted. “We’re trying to make sure that all the arts are covered, not just the visual arts but everything from music to film to poetry to whatever…culinary. “Everything is art.”

The center will also introduce new programs for adults, reinstate classes like watercolor and photography, and expand its reach to more counties.

Additionally, there will be a new and evolving mural outside the center. It currently reflects stripes of warm colors, but the colors will change each month.

“The idea is that we are constantly changing and focusing on what we can do to engage the community,” Bowlin added.
