CPS drops child sex case against West Yorkshire police officer

The case against a former West Yorkshire police officer who was being investigated for alleged historical child sexual exploitation has been dismissed.

Amjad Ditta worked in Force Protective Services Operations and was based in Bradford.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed there were “no realistic prospects of conviction” almost five years after Ditta was accused of sexual touching in December 2019.

“The CPS has a duty to keep all its cases under constant review,” a CPS spokesperson said.

“After receiving further evidence, the CPS concluded that there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction and therefore the case against this defendant has been suspended.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said Ditta was no longer a serving officer with the force, but his departure was not due to a disciplinary procedure.
