Olathe man charged with aggravated assault after shooting at mental health facility

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. (KCTV) – An Olathe man faces at least one felony charge after shooting at a mental health facility Thursday night in Johnson County.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said Joseph S. Longman, 34, was identified as the man who fired shots into the front of the Johnson County Mental Health Center.

Longman was observed shooting toward the front of the building as Sheriff’s Office deputies drove in the area of ​​the building in Olathe.

Longman was booked into the Johnson County Detention Center just before 11 pm on Thursday, November 7 and faces a charge of aggravated assault.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating the incident.

Authorities said the building was closed and there were no injuries.
