Separate Voting Process Denied for Lake City Council Member Pay Raises

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)—Pay increases for Lake City Council members will not have to go through a separate voting process after voters said no to a referendum on Election Day.

If approved, any pay increase would have required a vote separate and independent from the normal budget process.

Fifty-three percent of voters decided not to go that route, allowing council members to approve increases for themselves as part of the city’s overall budget process.
