PRESTON, CT (WFSB) – A one-vehicle crash left one man dead in Preston.

State Police identified the victim as Frederick Coonan, 78, of North Grosvenordale.

Troopers said they were dispatched to the scene of the crash in the area of ​​Route 164 and Deerbrook Road on Sunday around 8:10 p.m.

They said Coonan left the road crossing into the southbound lane and entered the shoulder. It traveled a short distance along the shoulder before colliding with a tree.

The vehicle spun due to the impact.

Coonan was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police. He was the only person in the vehicle.
