    Former NFL coach Jack Del Rio, who served as a senior advisor to Wisconsin football head coach Luke Fickell this season, was arrested after allegedly driving under the influence and crashing into a traffic sign. street and a fence, according to ESPN. Adam Rittenberg.

    Madison police said Del Rio “showed signs of impairment.”

    “We take matters like this very seriously and continue to gather information,” Wisconsin said in a statement through Rittenberg.

    Before joining Wisconsin this season, Del Rio spent more than two decades in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints as a strength and conditioning coach (1997-98); the Baltimore Ravens as linebackers coach (1999-01); the Carolina Panthers as defensive coordinator (2002); the Jacksonville Jaguars as head coach (2003-11); the Denver Broncos as defensive coordinator (2012-14); the then-Oakland Raiders as head coach (2015-17); and the then-Washington Football Team as defensive coordinator (2020-23).

    He went 93-94 as a head coach, leading his teams to three playoff berths but only one postseason victory.

    Fickell told reporters Ahead of the 2024 campaign, he would bring in Del Rio as an advisor to get his “football coaching perspective.”
