A bid has been submitted to convert a former Leicester city center nightclub into apartments.

The three-storey building on New Bond Street, which was last home to Lily’s Live Lounge, is the subject of a bid to change the use of the premises and make alterations to the interior and exterior, submitted to the city council.

If approved, the buildings would be converted into five self-contained apartments.

Applicant Nigel Reeves Planning and Urban Design had previously applied for and withdrawn an offer to convert the property in October 2023 following advice from planning officers.

Concerns had previously been raised about the loss of a retail façade on the ground floor of the building, which faces Highcross shopping centre.

A previous application was withdrawn after officers expressed fears of losing a store front.

The latest offer includes a reduction of the proposed floors from eight to five and the preservation of the shopping front on the empty building.

New windows and skylights would also be installed, and an exterior staircase at the rear would be removed.

The public can comment on the plan until November 26, and Leicester City Council aims to rule on the application by the end of December.
