How long has Oklahoma been a red state?

Oklahoma has been a consistently red state since 1968 with Richard Nixon’s winning campaign for the 37th president. During this election, Oklahomans received 963,728 votes and 449,697 votes for the future president.

The last time the state turned blue was for Lyndon B Johnson’s winning campaign in 1964. In 1964, 55.75% of Oklahomans voted for Lyndon B. Johnson, a stark contrast to his vice presidential bid with President John F. Kennedy in 1960where 59.02% of the state voted for Richard Nixon.
