Chilling moment: Terrified woman knocks on gas station window asking for help before sexual predator, 36, forces her into car and attempts to rape her.

This is the chilling moment a young woman frantically bangs on a gas station window asking for help before being dragged into a car by a sexual predator attempting to rape her.

Ghulan Mohammed, 36, was wandering around Leicester city center when he saw the woman stumbling on a path after becoming separated from her friends.

CCTV shows Mohammed following the woman, aged in her 20s, in his car before stopping and getting out to speak to her.

He passed the victim through side streets for an hour before convincing her to get into his car in the early hours of December 18 last year.

After she got into the back seat, he drove her to a remote area where he sexually assaulted her and tried to rape her.

Footage shows the terrified woman trying to escape by banging on a gas station window and desperately pushing Mohammed.

He is seen grabbing her wrists before forcing her back into the silver Volkswagen Golf.

The brave victim was finally saved when he sent a live location notification and voice notes to his friends asking for help.

When he pulled into a hotel parking lot, his friends ran to the car where they dragged her to safety.

When they found her she was covered in mud and bruises and Mohammed was not wearing pants.

Mohammed fled and the victim called the police, who launched an urgent search.

Police discovered that the woman, who spoke little English, had tried to beg him to stop abusing her using a translation app on her phone.

The device revealed that she had repeatedly begged him to: “Give me back my clothes” and “take me home.”

Detectives trawled through hours of CCTV to identify Mohammed and he was arrested the following day at his home in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffs.

Following a five-week trial, he was found guilty of one count of attempted rape, four counts of sexual touching, one count of robbery and four counts of fraud.

Last Friday he was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison at Northampton Crown Court.

The court heard Mohammed began following the woman shortly before 9.30pm on December 17, when he saw her walking along St Nicholas Circle.

CCTV shows him suddenly braking after passing the woman, before turning left onto Castle Street and parking.

As she walked through Southgates and then turned towards the opposite end of Castle Street, Mohammed caught up with her and they began to talk.

After walking behind the woman for almost an hour, he convinced her to get into his car and drove her out of town.

For more than two hours the car was circulating and parked in numerous places.

At 12.40am the following morning, the Golf was caught on CCTV entering the forecourt of a petrol station on Groby Road.

Mohammed and the woman get out of the car and the victim can be seen angry and distressed.

About 10 minutes later they return to the car and Mohammed drives in the direction of Leicester Forest East.

Around 1 a.m., the victim sent a voice note to a friend asking for help along with live location information.

Shortly after 1.30am, the car parked in the car park of a hotel on Hinckley Road, where it remained with the lights off.

The victim’s friends arrived at the hotel at 1.50am and found her in the back of the car with Mohammed.

Mohammed fled in the car and within hours used the victim’s bank card to make four transactions totaling £125.14.

Detective Sarah Le Boutillier, of Leicestershire Police, said: “Mohammed is a sexual predator who intentionally sought out the victim that night after seeing her alone and in a vulnerable state.”

‘It was thanks to her friends that she was rescued from the accused’s car after she was able to share her location data with them.

‘I think if this hadn’t happened, more crimes would have been committed.

‘The quick notification of the incident meant we were able to launch an investigation very quickly and within 28 hours the suspect had been identified and arrested.

“Despite the evidence against him being undeniable, the defendant chose not to admit what he did and instead caused the victim further trauma by making her relive the events of the night during the trial.”
