2 men arrested in connection with Santa Rosa burglary and restraint of a resident

Santa Rosa police arrested two men this week in connection with a home invasion in which a resident was restrained.

One of the men, armed with a gun, is accused of breaking into a home in the 1700 block of Dorado Court, northwest of Coddingtown Shopping Center, where he restrained the resident and robbed the property, Santa police said. Rosa in a Wednesday morning news release.

The man fled before the resident could escape and call authorities. Police responded and searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

The Santa Rosa Police Department’s Violent Crimes Investigation Team identified the alleged robber, 48-year-old Jason Buck, and his driver, 29-year-old Vallen Burkhauser. Both are residents of Santa Rosa.

The two later used residents’ key cards at different locations in Sonoma County, police said.

Police tracked Burkhauser to a location on Santa Rosa Avenue Tuesday morning and arrested him on suspicion of robbery, two counts of commercial burglary, identity theft and violation of probation.

Buck was arrested Monday night following a traffic stop near Lotus Court and Barham Avenue. He is suspected of robbery, kidnapping during a robbery, false imprisonment, elder abuse, commercial theft, identity theft and violation of post-release community supervision.

Both were booked into the Sonoma County Jail in Santa Rosa.
