Terrell May takes legal action against Facebook fan groups, malicious rumours, Roosters allowing May to leave, who will sign him, transfer rumours, rugby league news

Roosters prop Terrell May has reportedly issued cease and desist letters to several online fan groups for starting “damaging” rumors amid the Tricolors’ shocking decision to allow the 25-year-old explore your options.

May was one of the Roosters’ best players in 2024, and with a dearth of quality fixtures on the market, the Chooks’ call to allow May to negotiate and potentially sign with a rival club immediately raised eyebrows.

In turn, it also caused rumors to circulate about the reason.

according to The Daily Telegraph, May is preparing to take legal action against three Facebook groups whom the powerhouse has accused of spreading false information.

One of the rumors incorrectly included a teammate of May’s and the teammate’s partner.

May signed an extension with the Roosters earlier this year, so from the outside looking in, it was a surprising decision by the club to let the striker explore other options.

Rumors suggested that off-field concerns were the reason behind the club’s decision, but May closes those reports with an Instagram post.

May’s manager David Rawlings says online “player abuse” must be reported to protect athletes.

“Rugby league business transactions often end up in the public domain and of course when there is limited information available it is natural to speculate,” Rawlings said.

“However, when speculation becomes credible and personally harmful, we will not tolerate it.

“We will hold any party who engages in defamatory comments to account and, where appropriate, pursue legal remedies to do so.”

While nothing has happened yet, May will attract plenty of interest from clubs in need of support given how impressive he was at times last season.
