Cohasset man arrested for painting swastika on political sign

A Cohasset man who allegedly spray-painted a swastika on a political sign posted in the front yard of a private residence in the town of South Shore has been charged with vandalism, Cohasset police said.

Frederick B. Laidlaw pleaded not guilty to a single count of felony vandalism in Quincy District Court on Thursday, where he was released on personal recognizance, records show. He is 74 years old, police said.

According to police, Laidlaw “entered private property and painted a swastika on a political sign on Wednesday, October 30.” The residence was located on Route 3A, police said.

Police notified Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell’s Civil Rights Division of Laidlaw’s arrest.

The investigation is ongoing.
