Upstate man on federal supervised release convicted of weapons violation

GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) – The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) said a Greenwood man has been sentenced to prison

According to officials, evidence presented in court showed that a victim called 911 in March 2023 and stated that the father of her children had a gun, threatened her with it and had taken her 5-year-old son. Greenwood Police responded to the location and the man, 29-year-old Thaddeus Deon Devlin Jr., arrived on scene.

Officials said when Devlin and the child got out of the car, Devlin, who was carrying a bottle of liquor, told officers he had been drinking. Officers searched the car and found a loaded .40 caliber handgun.

The DOJ stated that Deblin’s criminal history included multiple incidents of domestic violence, assault and battery, and a prior felon on a firearms charge. Devlin had been released under federal supervision at the time.

District Judge Donald C. Coggins, Jr. of the United States sentenced Devlin to 84 months in prison and 16 months for violation of supervised release, all followed by one year of court-ordered supervision.
