Corruption-fighting ex-prosecutor and Socialist Queens representative expands growing field for mayor

With Mayor Eric Adams vowing to run for re-election while simultaneously battling a corruption indictment filed by the Manhattan U.S. attorney, he may now face a new prosecutor — but this time as a political rival.

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Walden plans to announce his candidacy for mayor on Thursday, promising to lead an administration that won’t be constantly hit with subpoenas and search warrants.

“People are tired of all this nonsense,” Walden told THE CITY. “They don’t want people to take bribes, like in the fire brigade. They want people to work for them.”
