14-year-old lured into trafficking, Butts County sheriff promises more arrests

Butts County Sheriff Gary Long promises more arrests in the Disturbing case of a 14-year-old girl who, according to investigators, was taken from her for the purposes of human trafficking. There are already two men charged in the case.

The sheriff says the case began with the arrest of Thomas Bonner, 24, of Clayton County. After the girl disappeared early the morning after Halloween, they say they learned that Bonner allegedly paid for an Uber ride from her home in Butts County to her home. Long says when his home was raided, the boy was being sexually assaulted.

Then last Friday, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team served an arrest warrant for another suspect in the case. They say Dylan Jattan, 33, and Bonner are charged with human trafficking and child abuse along with other charges of child sexual exploitation.

Long says his department intends to reveal which online sites and apps parents should monitor.

Sheriff Long says when the girl first disappeared, he was angry at people in the community and the victim embarrassed the girl. In several social media posts, he has been outspoken in his defense of her, as well as his outrage at those accused of abusing her and attempting to traffic her to others.
