An Ofsted report in June 2023 rated the school as outstanding, but an inspection of the residential care facility in October of the same year found it needed improvement.

At the time, Wandsworth Borough Council recognized that the school needed “sustained improvement” and said the protection and welfare of children was its “top priority”.

In a letter to parents seen by the BBC, Ana Popovici, executive director of children’s services at Wandsworth Council, said the authority “recognised that Bradstow has experienced challenges” but that the proposal was “not a reflection of the quality of the leadership, education and current education. care” provided by the school.

A KCC spokesperson said: “We are working to find alternative educational provision for pupils currently attending Bradstow School.”

The council said students would be given individual plans to minimize disruption.
