Identity of man who died after falling from Trinity County cell tower revealed

TRINITY COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) – The identity of a man who died while working on a cell phone tower in Trinity County on Tuesday has been released.

According to Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace, the man has been identified as James Robert Belcher, a field supervisor for MasTec Network Solutions. On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office conducted a welfare check at a tower at 7587 State Highway 94 around 7:15 a.m., where Belcher’s body was found.

MasTec had reported that Belcher had not returned home Monday night and that his last assigned position was the cell tower where he was later found.

Upon arrival, officers found Belcher’s body. Preliminary investigation shows that he had been climbing the tower and appeared to have fallen onto a platform suspended about eight feet in the air, according to a previous statement.
