‘Deeply shocked’: Woman claims Uber driver reached her grandparents’ pick-up point to demand another Rs 2,500 | India News

NEW DELHI: An Uber driver harassed a family who was travelling Mysuru Unpleasant Kempegowda International Airportturning what should have been a routine ride into a painful ordeal.
Nidhi Tarawho was part of the family, shared the experience in a detailed LinkedIn post, describing how the driver became aggressive and demanded an additional Rs 2,500 over and above the agreed rate. Tara explained that despite initially agreeing to pay a toll of Rs 450, the driver escalated the situation upon reaching the airport, leading to threats when the family refused to meet the additional demand.

In her LinkedIn post, Nidhi Tara explained: “This was supposed to end there, but last night things escalated.” The same driver reportedly showed up unannounced at her pick-up location in Mysuru at 10:30 PM and harassed her elderly grandparents, accusing them of cheating and demanding further payment. Nidhi Tara stressed that “his behavior not only deeply shocked us, but also posed a serious threat to our security.”
Despite multiple attempts to contact Uber customer service, Nidhi Tara claims they have not received an adequate response. “A problem of this nature after the trip intimidation is just as crucial as incidents during a journey. For any service provider, but especially in the ride-sharing industry, passenger safety should not be compromised,” she said.
Nidhi Tara is now appealing to the public for help, hoping to get in touch with Uber India’s leadership and safety team to ensure immediate action is taken. She stressed: “This is not just about one incident, but about ensuring no other family experiences something like this again.”
