Jason Kelce’s former Eagles teammate has some thoughts on incident with Penn State fan

Jason Kelce apologized for his role in last weekend’s altercation with a fan before Penn State’s game against Ohio State, but at least one of his former Philadelphia teammates believes he shouldn’t have done so.

For those who missed it, Kelce was available for Saturday’s ESPN game day before the big game. Video showed him walking near Beaver Stadium with a crowd of fans following him. A voice behind Kelce can clearly be heard shouting, “Hey Kelce, how does it feel to know your brother is a (homophobic slur) who’s dating Taylor Swift?”

Kelce stopped, turned and walked back toward a young man in a Penn State hoodie (it’s unclear from the video if he’s the person who yelled the slur, but Kelce seems to believe he’s the culprit), who was following him. and filming with a phone. a second video Kelce is clearly shown taking a cell phone from that person, stabbing it into the asphalt, then picking it up and walking away with it.

A third video obtained by TMZ shows the fan following Kelce to get his phone back. He can clearly be heard saying, “Give me my phone Kelce,” as he appears to push Kelce from behind, causing him to lose his balance.

Kelce appeared and repeatedly asked the Penn State fan, “Who’s the (gay slur) now?” Someone came up to separate them and told the fan, “Get that (expletive) out of here,” as Kelce continued.

Former Eagles defensive end Chris Long spoke out about the incident. during a podcast appearancee recently and had some interesting things to say.

“I think it’s all about influence in the world now,” he said. “Period. It’s hard for even a member of the media not to fall into these traps. Everyone is chasing clout. It’s the quickest way to get my five minutes of fame. That guy whose phone got hit, if not Outside of the fact that it seems like the entire Internet turned on this guy… nowadays, kids who get hit in the face might say, ‘Hey, look what they did to me.’ Jason Kelce hit me in the face.’ face.

“Internet culture has ruined real life and there are too many people who grew up in situations where they never got punched in the face,” he continued. “And I’m not saying it’s a prerequisite to being an adult, but I’m pretty sure that guy never got punched in the face.”

Kelce apologized for his role in the incident before Monday Night Countdown on ESPN.

“I think everyone has seen on social media everything that happened this week,” the Philadelphia Eagles legend said. “I just want to… listen, I’m not happy with anything that happened. I’m not proud of it. In a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that’s a productive thing. Not really. I don’t think that’s conducive to discourse, and that’s the right way to do things. And at that point, I fell to a level that I shouldn’t have. I think the bottom line is that I try to live my life by the rule of. gold.

“That’s what I’ve always been taught,” he added. “I try to treat people with common decency and respect, and I’m going to continue to do that in the future, even though I fell short this week, I’m going to continue to do that and continue to do that.”
