British and Irish Lions 2025 jersey revealed with ‘updated design’ – Planet Rugby

Canterbury and the British and Irish Lions have today unveiled the jersey for the 2025 tour to Australia.

In a statement revealing the new kit, the jersey is described as having a “bold but classic look” and features an updated design in a “deeper shade of red.”

The new shirt has already gone on sale; the replica costs £82 and the ‘short sleeve classic’ £70.

“The jersey has an updated design in a deeper shade of red and with the classic jacquard pattern woven into the fabric, paying tribute to the four unions that come together to form this iconic team,” reads a statement from the British Lions and Irish.

“The rose of England, the thistle of Scotland, the shamrock of Ireland and the feathers of Wales come together to represent the strength and legacy of the team.

“Creating a bold yet classic look, the jersey features a grandfather collar in direct response to online feedback from Lions fans during brand insights and trend analysis. Designed for maximum performance, it features Canterbury’s advanced Vapodri technology to keep players cool and comfortable on the field.”

twice British and Irish lions Tour captain Sam Warburton consulted on the jersey design and offered advice on player requirements alongside highly veiled on-field testing for durability and performance.

The new adult jersey also has a Near Field Communication (NFC) tag that will allow fans to access an exclusive digital experience after purchasing the kit.

Howden is the title sponsor of the jersey for 2025 and appears on the chest, while the launch of the kit expands Canterbury’s relationship with the British and Irish Lions, which dates back to the 1959 Tour of New Zealand.

During that Tour 65 years ago, Canterbury produced its first Lions jersey, responding to a request for a new jersey after it was damaged in a previous match, cementing its reputation for producing innovative and durable rugby apparel. Next summer’s tour of Australia will be the third consecutive series in which they will partner the Lions.
