Man jailed for more than three years for loading illegal streaming services on Amazon Fire Sticks | UK News

A 29-year-old man has been jailed for more than three years for loading illicit TV streaming services on Amazon Fire Sticks.

Jonathan Edge, of LiverpoolHe pleaded guilty to three crimes under the Fraud Act.

He was sentenced to three years and four months in prison, which included a separate concurrent sentence of two years and three months for accessing and viewing the content he provided.

Edge ran a service that loaded illegal services onto Fire Stick devices in exchange for cash payments at his home, Liverpool Crown Court heard.

He ignored multiple warnings about the illegal activity, which the judge referred to and treated as an aggravating factor in the sentence.

The prosecution was carried out by the Premier League and supported by several other organisations, including FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft) and Merseyside Police.

Kevin Plumb, general counsel for the Premier League, said: “The significant sentence handed down to the individual involved serves once again to highlight the seriousness of his actions.

“We will continue to take legal action against those who provide unauthorized access to Premier League football, regardless of the scale or mode of operation. Ignoring warnings to stop only served to worsen the consequences for the individual.”

“Many people see no harm in illegal TV streaming services, but they are wrong, and this result should serve as a further warning of how seriously this type of copyright theft continues to be taken.”
