Sri Lanka taps former Proteas opener as consultant for South Africa Tests

Mckenzie, who played 58 Test matches between 2000 and 2009, amassed over 3,253 runs for South Africa. He also amassed almost 20,000 runs in first-class cricket.

He famously holds half the highest opening partnership in Test history, sharing a 415-run stand with Graeme Smith against Bangladesh in 2008.

Speaking on his appointment, Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley De Silva said: “McKenzie will bring vital and in-depth knowledge of South African conditions to help Sri Lanka’s players adapt to the challenge.”
