Bail not reduced for man found with bullets at police station

MONTEGO BAY, St James – Last Wednesday, a parish judge stood firm in her decision not to reduce the bail of Aldine Reynolds, who was found in possession of two bullets while on the grounds of the Montego Bay police station .

Reynolds is charged, along with Donald Mitchell, with unauthorized possession of ammunition.

They are represented by attorneys Chumu Paris and Henry McCurdy, respectively.

On June 19, when the men appeared at St James Parish Court, Judge Natiesha Fairclough-Hylton granted them each $500,000 bail.

However, during the subsequent court hearing on October 16 it was revealed that Reynolds was still in custody as no one was in a position to post bail on his behalf.

Consequently, Fairclough-Hylton reduced the amount to $350,000.

During the hearing last Wednesday at St James Parish Court, Paris informed the court that the accused’s relatives were not yet financially able to meet the bail requirement.

However, Fairclough-Hylton expressed reluctance to reduce the sum further, citing the presence of the accused on the police station grounds in possession of bullets.

Additionally, during the hearing, the clerk informed the court that the ballistics certificate was still pending and would not be available until Friday.

A plea and case management hearing was later scheduled for Nov. 21, and Mitchell’s bond was extended.

Reynolds also had his bail offer extended.

According to court documents, on June 6, at around 10:00 p.m., a white Nissan car entered the premises of the Montego Bay police station. Subsequently, one of the defendants, who was in possession of a brown bag, disembarked from the vehicle and threw the bag near the perimeter wall.

No information was provided about the contents of the bag.

However, the court was told that during a thorough inspection of the vehicle, two rounds of ammunition were discovered hidden under one of the front seats.

Both men were arrested and charged.
