ASU loses to Grambling State in the fourth quarter

GRAMBLING, Louisiana (WSFA) – In what Alabama State University calls a “heartbreaker,” the Hornets left Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium on Saturday with a 24-23 loss to the Grambling State Tigers.

Grambling scored first with 3 points, but the Hornets responded with a field goal to tie that with seconds left in the first quarter.

Both teams scored touchdowns in the second quarter to tie it again at 10-10. Things started to look better for the Hornets when freshman Kareem Keye scored a one-yard touchdown at the 3:21 mark, allowing them to enter the second half with a 17-10 lead.

That lead grew to 23-10 in the third quarter.

However, the Hornets did not score again, while the Tigers did so twice in the fourth quarter, sealing their one-point victory.

The Hornets will return home next Saturday to host Jackson State for their Hall of Fame weekend at 2 p.m.
