Bo Nix is developing at an ‘impressive’ pace for the Denver Broncos

At first it was easy to laugh.

From the moment the Denver Broncos submitted a draft card for the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft with Bo Nix’s name on itThe move felt like a big reach. Nix was already an older prospect at age 24 upon entering the league, and an early run at QB made it seem like the Broncos panicked about his first-round spot (without a second-round option in their arsenal) and took over of the next. draft board.

The laughter didn’t stop once the regular season began. Nix’s first two games were losses to the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers, games in which Nix threw zero touchdowns and four interceptions. In those games, the Broncos’ QB looked overwhelmed by the transition and disappointing in the center. For Chiefs Kingdom, it was fun to see the Broncos sniff out such an important organizational decision.

But then something happened. Nix began to improve. (Imagine a rookie who really needs reps to grow.) The Broncos are 5-2 since those first two games of the season, and Nix has thrown 8 TDs and just 2 INTs since then. He also rushed for 295 yards and 4 touchdowns over half a season, showing that he can also be a threat as a wrestler.

So what should Chiefs fans expect from Nix in Arrowhead on Sunday in Week 10? How much has it really improved? What are your weaknesses? we asked our friend Sayre Bedinger of Predominantly orange to tell us more about Nix’s professional journey to date and whether he believes in BO or not.

I think a lot of Broncos Country are excited about Bo Nix, while a lot of them remain skeptical. It’s almost as if a section of the fanbase doesn’t allow themselves to get excited about what they see from him, if I’m being purely transparent. You know what fans are like. They will make holes that literally no one else sees because they don’t want to be disappointed and disappointed if it doesn’t work out. But I would say that there is also a large part of the fanbase that is already believing in BO this year. It’s been a steady progression on his part and he’s been impressive even when the team isn’t winning.

I think everyone was impressed by how quickly he showed command of the offense and a good understanding of what defenses are doing. It doesn’t feel “too fast” for him like people said in Week 1. Sure he has his rookie moments, but you can tell he’s not out there as a puppet. He’s seeing things getting better and better week after week.

I’d say the biggest hurdle for him right now will be finding ways to finish races more consistently. The Broncos have moved the ball very well over the last month, but have struggled to hit it at times. There are a lot of factors to that, but having Bo on the same page as his receivers and continuing to build that chemistry. Within this offense it will help him a lot.

I think you have to understand that he was taking a lot of shots in that game. The interception on the first drive was entirely Lil’Jordan Humphrey’s fault. The offense moved the ball effectively throughout the first half, but failed on a pair of fourth-down attempts in Ravens territory. I think you obviously have to learn from some of the mistakes there, but overall, it looked like Nix was going to be able to hold the Broncos up if the defense could make a couple of stops. (They didn’t.)
