Remains of ‘dangerous’ fireworks recovered from Marske beach

The law does not allow fireworks to be used. Burst in streets or other public places., external.

But photographs taken by Mrs Bell show they had been used on the beach, with some of the boats abandoned where they had been lit.

Other animals could be affected and he had seen seagulls pecking through the rubble, he said.

“All these fireworks have to fall somewhere,” he said.

The noise they make could also disturb nesting geese and seals, causing them to abandon their young, he added.

Ms Bell asks people to consider alternatives.

“Even just using the silencers can make a big difference,” he said.

“You could even use drones.

“I know it’s an expensive option, but it’s an option that exists.”
