Calls for 3G plots in Jersey to be replaced amid health fears

Tim Pryor, chief executive of the Jersey FA, said artificial pitches would reduce the number of postponed matches.

“We know local clubs are struggling to get training places at current grassless facilities such as Springfield Stadium, Haute Vallee and Oakfield,” he said.

“They are used a lot, especially in the afternoons, which is positive, but we need to improve the availability of the training facilities so that more people can play.

“We also want to reduce the number of matches postponed due to waterlogging of grass pitches due to bad weather.

“The new 3G fields would allow us to play match after match, even after weeks of rain.

“Lack of access to good quality fields can be one of the biggest barriers to playing football.”
