Big Brother’s Ali Gets Strong Reaction From Viewers After Talking About Lesbian Labels On The Show

Big Brother Fans have shared their reactions to Ali Bromley’s candid discussion about lesbian labels.

During a recent episode of the ITV reality show, Ali had a conversation with her housemates Emma, Khaled and Rosie about the different types of lesbians and their labels within the community.

“So in the lesbian community, lesbians like me, who present feminine, are called ‘femmes,'” she explained. “You have ‘women,’ ‘masculine,’ ‘stud.'”

When asked what a stud is, Ali continued: “Stud is a bit of a controversial label. You shouldn’t actually call someone a stud unless they identify as one.”

“(It’s) used by the black community, because in the past, the lesbian community was a little bit exclusive, so the stud lesbians developed their own name, which shouldn’t be used by white people at all, it’s very offensive. It’s a black woman who presents herself as basically masculine.”

She also explained that ‘black cat’ lesbians are more “distant” and are often “paired with golden retrievers,” who are more enthusiastic, while ‘butches’ have a masculine presentation.

“Some people still call themselves d**es, but again, that’s one of those people who never call them that… they have to identify themselves as that,” he added.

“Everyone always tells me, ‘You don’t look like a lesbian, blah, blah, blah,’ because they expect lesbians to present themselves masculinely. But I say, they’re just the ones you can see.”

Viewers soon took to social media to praise Ali for starting the conversation and representing the lesbian community, with one writing: “I have never heard a conversation like this on television before, it is very important.”

“She explained this perfectly,” said another, while a third wrote: “I honestly could have cried when Ali spoke so openly about the lesbian community. She is the representation we need and I’m so glad they included her in the episode.” “

Big Brother is broadcast on ITV2 and ITVX from Sunday to Friday, followed each night by Big Brother: late and live.
