BRONSON, Fla. (WCJB) – Four have been sentenced in a trial for the torture and murder of a Levy County man.

On August 11, 2019, detectives with the Levy County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a body discovered on the side of the road in a rural area of ​​Morriston.

The victim was identified as Jafet Padín Rodríguez, 33, and investigators said his injuries were consistent with being stabbed and shot.

In June, detectives arrested Omar Alexis Rodríguez Ortiz, 43, Christian Cirilo Cardona, 32, Jesse Torres, 36, and Kesia Moraima Mundo Muñoz, 41, in connection with the murder.

According to officials, Ortiz, Cardona, Torres and Muñoz lured Rodríguez to Mundo’s home, beat him and took him to Morriston, where they shot him.

Ortiz, Cardona, Torres and Muñoz then burned and abandoned Rodríguez’s vehicle.

On November 5, 2024, Judge William E. Davis sentenced Ortiz to life in prison for first-degree murder and thirty years for conspiracy to commit murder, Cirilo was sentenced to 30 years in prison for second-degree murder with 10 years of imprisonment. probation.

Jesse Torres and Kesia Mundo pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder. Torres received 20 years in prison and Mundo received 15 years in prison.
