Columbia man arrested, faces charges including drug trafficking and weapons offenses

A man was arrested for alleged drug trafficking and other charges on November 8.

Columbia Police Department (CPD) detectives suspected Kyle Shepherd, 32, of Columbia, of being involved in multiple short-term drug transactions.

Police obtained a search warrant for his residence and also discovered he had a warrant for his arrest on a previous charge.

Court documents state detectives found Shepherd leaving his residence during a traffic stop on his vehicle.

Police reported finding a knotted bag with five suspected fentanyl pills in the driver’s side compartment with more than $600 in cash on it.

While executing the search warrant of Shepherd’s residence, agents allegedly discovered:

  • 45 grams of fentanyl
  • a knotted bag containing 24 grams of suspected Xanax
  • Two knotted bags of suspected cocaine.
  • a bottle with 3.5 pink pills labeled oxycodone
  • $3,500 cash
  • four firearms

CPD arrested the man and booked him into the Boone County Jail without bond.

Shepherd is charged with four counts of unlawful use of weapons, two counts of delivery of a controlled substance and second-degree drug trafficking.
