Cameron Norrie reaches the semi-finals of the Moselle Open by beating Zizou Bergs

British number two Cameron Norrie continued his positive end to an injury-plagued season by reaching the semi-finals of the Moselle Open.

The 29-year-old advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-1 victory over Belgian Zizou Bergs.

The former world number eight will play only his third ATP event since July due to a forearm injury that left him out of the US Open.

After failing to get two match points in the second set tie-break, Norrie recovered to dominate the deciding set against 61st-ranked Bergs.

“I should have had the tiebreaker in the second set, but he played faster than me and took a little more risk,” said Norrie, who has fallen to 57th in the rankings.

“I wasn’t happy but I managed to restart.

“He’s a good player and he had a really good year, so it’s a big win for me.”

Norrie will play Frenchman Corentin Moutet in the semi-finals at around 14:30 GMT on Friday.

Moutet, ranked 66th, advanced when Russian top seed Andrey Rublev withdrew after securing his place in next week’s season-ending ATP Finals.
