Wednesday injury report medical analysis.

Lambeau’s wet field probably helped the Lions have a healthy game by slowing everyone down and allowing feet to escape dangerous situations like with Jahmyr Gibbs. There were a few minor concerns that came out of the game, but the only one that appeared in Wednesday’s report is Jalen Reeves-Maybin.

Plenty of other positive news this week as the Lions welcomed back several players including Emmanuel Moseley, Ifatu Melifonwu and Za’Darius Smith.

The Texans had two very important players who did not practice on Wednesday: Nico Collins and Will Anderson.

DETROIT LIONS

Jalen Reeves-Maybin LB (NP) neck

What appeared to be a shoulder injury in the video actually appears here as a neck injury. Most likely it is just a soft tissue strain. The most serious concern would be a spinal or nerve problem. It is reassuring that he was allowed to return late to the game for the onside kick, suggesting there were no signs of a spinal problem.

Malcolm Rodríguez LB (NP) ankle

Rodriguez suffered a sprained left ankle early in the Titans game and missed the final game. While the sprain is reportedly minor, the NP makes it unlikely we’ll see him this weekend.

Josh Paschal Disease DE (FP)

Paschal today clarified the “disease” and described it as a non-cancerous mass on the shoulder that was removed. It’s great news that it is not related to his melanoma from 2018. Paschal missed two games but is ready to play this Sunday. There are no long-term worries here.

Emmanuel Moseley CB (FP) pectoral

Moseley tore his pectoral in August and has been out all year. His 21-day practice window opened Wednesday, which keeps him following the 16-week timeline of CJ Gardner-Johnson’s pectoral tear from last year. Expect Moseley to be available around Thanksgiving.

Ifatu Ankle Melifonwu S (FP)

Melifonwu has been out since mid-preseason with a suspected Achilles tendon problem. Its 21-day practice window opened today, which is a good sign that it will be available later this month.

Za’Darius Smith DE (NP) staff

Newly acquired this week from the Browns, Smith could get a personal bye week as the Browns had not yet had a bye and the Lions had. There is nothing to worry about here even if you lose the game.

Sione Vaki RB (FP) knee

Vaki hurt his knee late in the Titans game and missed the final game. The video did not show the injury. FP means you are recovered and ready to play.

Mekhi Wingo DT (FP) ankle

Wingo presumably hurt his ankle in practice last week and missed the final game. The FP confirms that the injury is minor and he will be ready for Sunday.

Brodric Martin DT (FP) knee

Martin is beginning the second week of his 21-day practice stint recovering from hyperextending his right knee in August. Expect Martin to be out for the Texans game.

NOTABLES

Jameson Williams returns from his two-game suspension.

Jahmyr Gibbs He was rolled up during an inning last game which put him at risk for a sprained left ankle and hyperextended right knee. It is great news that it is completely absent from the report.

Carlton Davis He may have had a stinger in his right arm last game. The good news is that he avoided any shoulder or pectoral injuries.

Penei Sewell He appeared to suffer a slight sprain to his right ankle against the Packers, which was not significant enough to be included in the report. No worries for Sunday.

HOUSTON TEXANS

Nico Collins WR (NP) hamstring

The Texans’ No. 1 WR was placed on IR after suffering a hamstring strain in Week Five. Since hamstrings can easily aggravate, it is advisable to return to play gradually. Therefore, Wednesday’s NP is very likely to keep him out against the Lions.

Will Anderson DE (NP) ankle

On video, this star pass rusher appeared to suffer a sprained left ankle last game. High ankles can have a longer recovery time than expected (see Micah Parsons), so there’s a good chance he’ll be out on Sunday.

Kenyon Green OG (NP) Shoulder

This starting LG hurt his shoulder last game and will reportedly be out for the year. Kendrick Green replaced him last game.

NOTABLES

Stefan DiggsWR, will be out for the year with a right ACL.

mario edwardStarting coach, is serving suspension and is out for this game.
