At the beginning of the hearing, Cavada asked for a postponement in the case and said he had only received the documentation on Tuesday.

“We are not prepared at all. We need to review the allegations. We need to amend our allegations if necessary. There is too much controversy in this case to decide anything today, even your request for injunctive relief is premature. I just received notification yesterday,” Cavada said, “In fact, many facts and issues will have to be revealed in the discovery process. This will be a very controversial case.”

He asked to be given two more weeks.

County Court #3 Judge Deanne Galvan denied that request, saying she had not received that motion and that the hearing was to appoint a temporary administrator of the estate.

“She, to the best of our knowledge and belief, is using and managing that property without any judicial oversight, which is what required our application for accounting and also for the temporary injunction to prevent her from expending or depleting or disposing of in any way property.” property of the farm,” López said.

Cavada responded by questioning Castillo’s claim that she was legally married to Canales at the time of her death.

He stated that Castillo has been married and divorced three times since 1980.

After hearing from both attorneys, Galván appointed Celeste Robertson as temporary administrator of the estate.

Although the assets have been frozen, the judge ordered that Nora Canales be allowed to withdraw funds to cover living expenses.
