Three people killed in an intense accident identified

DELAWARE COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – Investigators have identified three people who died in a fiery crash on Highway 20 in Earlville on October 13.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says a preliminary investigation by the Iowa State Patrol revealed that a 2014 Chevy Impala driven by Tijuan Devell White, 50, of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, was eastbound on Highway 20 near from the Earlville intersection when the vehicle crossed the median and continued east in the westbound lanes.

The Chevy collided head-on with a truck, causing both vehicles to become completely submerged.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries. All three people inside the Chevy died at the scene, including White and passengers Tryese Devell Johnson, 21, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Augustine T. Monboe, 38, of Robbindale, Minnesota.

The investigation determined that White was shot before the crash. No evidence was found to indicate the gunshot came from outside White’s vehicle. Due to fire damage to the vehicle, the manner of death remains undetermined.

The investigation remains ongoing by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Iowa State Patrol, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Medical Examiner.
