In a Livonia lot, Trump supporters make the final push on Election Day

The corner of Seven Mile and Farmington Road has become something of a gathering place for Trump supporters in the run-up to Election Day.

About two hours before the polls closed, the parking lot on the southeast corner was filled with Make America Great Again signs, patriotic music and about 100 Trump fans cheering and imploring drivers to “honk for Trump” as they pass.

Some said they were optimistic about the former president’s chances but were concerned about possible voter fraud or election interference.

“I feel like he won last time,” said Dennis Spears of Westland, referring to the 2020 presidential election. “For the first time we saw an election stop at the end of the night. Now we’re going to look, are they going to do that again? time?”.

Russell Yerge of Farmington Hills said he attended the meeting because “we need more people out there, showing support and being bold.”

“This is a big election, it’s going to have a lot of consequences,” he said. “It’s the biggest one of my life.”

As Trump fans shouted, waved and cheered, two lone Kamala Harris supporters stood sober in the northwest corner of the intersection.

Despite overwhelming support for Trump at the intersection, Alex Bollin of Livonia was optimistic the vice president would win Michigan.

“I’m more worried about Pennsylvania and Georgia,” he said, “but if they show him Georgia, I think it’ll be a great night.”

Raquel Bessinger, a Trump supporter from Yale, Michigan, said she wished a winner could be definitively declared on election night.

“I want to go back to the ’80s, ’90s and ’70s… where we knew at the end of election night, and when we woke up in the morning, we already knew who the president was.”
