Kenton County Responds to Reports of Power Outages Affecting Polling Place

TAYLOR MILL, Ky. (WXIX) – More than 2,000 Taylor Mill residents were without power Tuesday due to a tree falling on a power line, according to Duke Energy.

Scott High School, a polling location in northern Kentucky, was in the affected area, however, they were not without power, Kenton County Clerk Gabrielle Summe told FOX19 NOW.

Summe says he has not received any reports of a power outage affecting any of the county’s polling locations, but adds that all equipment has four-hour battery backup. If the power goes out, people will still be able to vote.

If a power outage lasts more than four hours, Summe says the county has pre-printed ballots and a locked drop box for voters.

Additionally, it says if there is a power outage, all locations in Kenton County allow any voter to move to a polling place with power to facilitate the voting process.

Since the initial report of the power outage around 3:20 p.m., Duke Energy crews have restored power to most of Taylor Mill.
