PELHAM, Alabama (WBRC) – Two businesses in Pelham will keep their licenses after hosting paper bingo in their establishments.

On Monday night, Pelham City Council voted unanimously not to revoke the business licenses of The Beer Hog and Blues Bourbon and Brews.

The Pelham City Attorney said some jurisdictions in Alabama have amendments to allow them to host bingo, but Pelham and Shelby County do not.

City Council President Maurice Mercer said the city of Pelham takes the state’s laws against paper bingo seriously, adding that all businesses contacted so far have complied with the city’s requests. cease its paper bingo operations.

Last month, the city council also voted to allow Pub 261 and Lil Bits Tavern stay open to do the same.

After hearing from customers, the council also voted unanimously to allow them to keep their licenses as long as they no longer offer bingo games.
