Beyoncé Finally Releases a Bodyguard Image, Sort of

Beyoncé long ago transcended the rules of traditional pop stardom. You no longer need to follow the path of the radio single/music video/interviews/promotional features; you can release whatever you want, whenever you want, and still be successful regardless. He has deviated so much from the path he had taken that he began to annoy fans who wanted him to release music videos for Renaissanceselling tour merchandise that said “You’re the visual, baby.” For cowboy carterHe stated that he wanted people to “focus on voice”instead of being distracted by images. Which makes it even more confusing that on Tuesday he released an image to accompany the cowboy carter track “Bodyguard”.

This is not a music video per se. It’s mostly a glorified photo shoot (I used to dance in these!), and it doesn’t even cover the entire song, cutting off after the second verse. The next point of confusion is that the clip is titled “BEYWATCH,” which only serves to sow more discord over the pronunciation of his nickname (the Bay vs. Bee wars continue). In it, the singer dresses like Pamela Anderson (to complement the lyrics “I could be your lifeline”) and shamelessly recreates the actor’s 1999 MTV VMA red carpet look with a twist: Beyoncé’s version of the character attends to the “No Visual Awards”. “

This non-musical video is apparently intended to celebrate Halloween; at the end he wishes the fans a “Happy Beylloween,” except, as you know, the Halloween season is already several days away. It’s also apparently a “get out the vote” ad, since it was released on Election Day in the US and the title of the YouTube video is simply #VOTE, but beyond a little “Vote!” flag that comes out of a toy gun, there is nothing particularly political about it. Unsurprisingly, it also looks a bit like a whiskey ad (at one point, she takes a swig of her new Sir Davis liquor). Overall, “BEYWATCH” is nothing in particular, except perhaps a reminder to Grammy voters that cowboy carter Keep competing for the big prizes. It doesn’t matter; Beyhive will surely be happy with whatever he gets.
