Officials acknowledge Cambria Co. voting problems, request extension of voting time

In response to widespread voting problems in Cambria County on Tuesday morning, County Attorney Ron Repak issued the following statement:

“The Cambria County Board of Elections learned early this morning that a software malfunction in the County’s Electronic Voting System has prevented voters from scanning their ballots. This should not deter voters from voting in their precincts. The Board has filed a Court Order extending the Time to Vote within Cambria County. No one should be turned away from the polls if they wish to cast their vote. The Cambria County Board of Elections took steps to call in IT specialists to. review software issue of this nature all completed ballots will be accepted, secured and counted by the Board of Elections The County Board of Elections has express voting machines at precinct locations to continue allowing electronic voting, at the same time. time that manual votes are allowed. The County Board of Elections will continue to monitor this matter and take necessary steps to ensure that all voters have the opportunity to cast their ballot. We thank the community for their patience and support while this issue is resolved. “In short, every vote will be counted and we will continue to encourage everyone to vote.”
