Vadodara: five days later Sabir KarigarA 28-year-old man was buried and his body was exhumed from a cemetery in Umreth town in Anand district following his family’s concern over his sudden death.
According to family members, Sabir committed suicide on October 30, after which he was buried. His brother, Sajid, has now alleged that Sabir committed suicide due to pressure from moneylenders.
Sajid told reporters that his brother, a casual labourer, consumed poison on October 30 and later died. “We buried him, but later, through his mobile phone and recordings, we learned that he was in debt and faced constant threats from moneylenders seeking payment,” he said.
He alleged that Sabir was also beaten up by goons. “We have sent the names of all the suspects in writing to the Umreth police and are awaiting necessary action from the police,” he said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police JN Panchal told reporters that the body of the deceased was exhumed on Tuesday and search was sent for post mortem examination at Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad.
“After the deceased consumed poison, his family members shifted him to hospitals in Umreth, Nadiad and Dakor, where he was declared brought dead. The family did not inform the police before the burial. But as we received a request from his brother on Monday, we registered a report of accidental death and we are further investigating the case,” Panchal said.
