Indianapolis Colts Steichen announces starting quarterback ‘will move on’

He Indianapolis Colts primetime tilt Sunday Night Football did not go as planned with Joe Skinny starting below center. Indy fell 21-13 to fall below .500 (4-5) and has more questions than solutions after a baffling offensive game plan by Shane Steichen that gave the Colts just 6 points from the kicker. gay mate. Once Steichen was in front of the media after the embarrassing loss, he would confirm that Flacco is the starter for the season.

Many Colts fans felt Flacco was bad enough against the Vikings to justify Steichen moving back to Richardson, but that wasn’t the case. The 17-year veteran QB finished 16/27 for 179 yards, 0 touchdowns and one interception. Flacco has a fantastic arm for driving the ball deep, but as a low-risk field general, he’s often happier with checks, high-percentage shots, and easy completions.

The consensus was that the offensive’s efficiency would increase with Flacco running things, but that wasn’t the result. running back jonathan taylor He seemed overwhelmed by the Vikings’ quick defenders, finishing with 3.7 yards per carry. This was bad enough for one of his most disappointing performances all year, showing that Flacco’s immobility negatively contributes to Taylor’s chances of success.

As for pass catchers, only Josh Downs Impressed with Flacco throwing passes Sunday night, making 6 catches for 60 yards on 9 targets. Fellow receiver Alec Pierce He also shined at times, getting all 3 of Flacco’s targets for 41 yards receiving. Outside of these two, no other Colts WR/TE had more than a single reception. Given that Flacco was supposed to elevate the Colts’ offense, these passing game numbers are unacceptable.

Indianapolis appears to be sticking with Flacco, for now. However, if the veteran gives in strongly against teams like the buffalo bills and Detroit LionsThe fans’ call for Richardson to start will only get louder in Steichen’s ears.
