Man almost crashes into school bus and is found with drugs in the vehicle

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – A Floyd County man was arrested following a traffic stop where police said they found suspected marijuana, cocaine and other drugs.

The incident occurred on Monday, October 28, when police were patrolling the Allen area of ​​Floyd County.

Christopher Saylor, 53, of Harold, was on US 23 when he reportedly changed lanes toward an oncoming school bus.

When police stopped Saylor, they noticed he was moving frantically in his vehicle, trying to hide illegal items.

Police said they detected an odor of marijuana immediately inside the vehicle.

When Saylor was told to exit the truck, police found a bag containing a green leaf-like substance in his pants pockets suspected to be marijuana. Police also found approximately 8.5 grams of suspected marijuana packaged in three separate bags. Police also confiscated powder weighing approximately 0.25 grams of suspected fentanyl, white powder weighing approximately four grams of suspected cocaine, and 20 grams of mushrooms.

During a search of the vehicle, police found even more drugs. 73 grams (2.5 ounces) of suspected marijuana were collected from the center console of the vehicle.

Saylor later told police he was not dealing drugs, but was picking them up in Prestonsburg and doing a friend a favor by bringing them the drugs.

Saylor was charged with trafficking in marijuana (less than eight ounces) – first offense, trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree – first offense (greater than or equal to four grams of cocaine), trafficking in a controlled substance – first offense (carfentanil or fentanyl derivatives), operating with a suspended or revoked operating license and trafficking in a controlled substance, second degree – first offense (less than 10 DU hallucinogens).

Saylor was taken to the Floyd County Jail. He was being held there on $25,000 cash bail.
