Man shoots his neighbor’s cat for “leaving footprints” on vehicles

GEORGETOWN, Kentucky (WKYT/Gray News) – A man shot his neighbor’s cat for “leaving tracks” on his vehicles.

Kristen Brandenburg said she received a call from her fiancee last month informing her that her 12-year-old cat, Gray Baby, had been shot.

“He sent me a photo of my cat. “I was hurt,” he said.

Brandenburg said it looked like a bullet “went through his chest cavity and then came out of his arm.”

She took Gray Baby to the vet and he eventually had to be put down.

The next day, he spoke to his neighbor, Christopher Jones, 52, who admitted to shooting the cat.

According to court documents, Jones said the cat was on his property and was a nuisance, climbing onto his vehicles and leaving tracks, so he “took care of it.”

Police said Jones told them he shot the cat with a rifle and believed he was acting legally in doing so.

“It just doesn’t make sense that someone would do that, that evil could live right next to you,” Brandenburg said.

Brandenburg said he is afraid of what Jones might do next.

“I have other animals, I have two dogs,” he said.

Jones was charged with torturing a dog or cat and will be arraigned Nov. 14.
