Karnataka Lokayukta summons CM Siddaramaiah in MUDA Land scam; The co-accused wife and brother-in-law are already being questioned

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been summoned by Lokayukta to be questioned on Wednesday (November 6) in connection with the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam.

The Lokayukta police earlier questioned his wife Parvathi BM and brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy in the case. The MUDA office was also raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) last month.

The summons follows a court ruling affirming the Governor’s authority to allow the Lokayukta to question the CM. The Lokayukta had registered a First Information Report (FIR) based on the directives of a special court.

The case involves allotting 14 high-value plots to Parvathi as compensation for her 3.16 acres of land in Kesare village near Mysuru. Activists allege that this transaction resulted in a loss of Rs 45 million to the state.

Siddaramaiah is listed as the first accused in the FIR, while his wife Parvathi is the second. Amid the ongoing dispute, Parvathi recently wrote to MUDA, handing over the allotted sites.

Regarding the letter, Siddaramaiah said returning the plots was his wife’s decision as they were gifted to her by her brother. The land was subsequently encroached upon by MUDA and an alternative site was provided.
