A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a woman in Glasgow city centre.

James McCrindle, 53, allegedly assaulted and killed Sandie Butler, 40, in the Townhead area on October 29.

Court documents say McCrindle struggled with Butler and “struck her on the body with a knife or similar instrument.”

She was found seriously injured on St Mungo’s Avenue and was pronounced dead a short time later.

McCrindle did not enter a plea to the murder charge during the private hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
