Akron, 25, shot to death ‘was not the intended target,’ detectives say

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – Detectives believe a 25-year-old Akron man killed in October was unintentionally shot.

On October 25, Akron police were called to an apartment in the 1100 block of Keys Place just before 10:30 p.m. for a shooting.

Officers arrived and found Neiko Swesey, 25, with a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, Akron police said there is evidence to suggest an unknown suspect was shooting outside the apartment building when one of the errant bullets appeared to have gone through a wall or window and struck Swesey.

Akron police arrested a woman on Oct. 25 for allegedly interfering with first responders and medical personnel.
