Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died two days after being found unconscious in Liverpool.

Merseyside Police said the man, aged in his 50s, died in hospital after being found on Spellow Lane in Walton on Saturday.

Officials said the cause of death is unknown at this time.

A 34-year-old woman from Kensington and a 63-year-old man from Walton were questioned and later released on bail.

A 53-year-old man from Knotty Ash who was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent has also been released on bail.

Detective Stephen Ball urged anyone with information to come forward.

He said: “Spellow Lane is a busy street so I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around 0900 GMT and may have witnessed anything or has information that could assist the investigation to get in touch. with us urgently”.
