Man seriously injured after altercation in Renfrewshire pub bathroom

A man has been seriously injured following an incident inside the toilet of a pub in Renfrewshire.

The disturbance occurred at around 12.30am on October 6 inside the bathroom of the Habbies bar on New Street in Kilbarchan.

A 56-year-old man seriously injured his leg after falling to the ground during an altercation with another man.

He was transported to the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Paisley for treatment before being discharged a few days later.

Police Scotland have launched an appeal for witnesses to help their investigation.

Detective Barry Gourlay, Renfrewshire CID, Police Scotland, said: “The injured man reported the incident when he left hospital a week after it happened.

“Since then we have been making inquiries at the bar, in the area and reviewing CCTV, however we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident or who has any information that may assist our investigation.

“We appreciate what happened was in a small toilet area so there was limited access, but we would still like to hear from anyone with information.”

Those with information are urged to contact police via 101 citing incident number 0865 on Sunday, October 13.

Witnesses who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
