The 2024 election season is almost over and South Coast voters prepare Tuesday elect the president of the united states and make crucial decisions that could affect generations.

Not only are presidential and congressional races on the ballot, but local voters will be able to choose who they want to represent them on Beacon Hill and in county government.

They will also have a direct say over state law by answering five referendum questions.

Who is running for the United States Senate?

Current Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren faces a challenge of Republican lawyer John Deaton.

Warren, the state’s first elected senator, is asking voters for a third six-year term, citing $20 billion in federal funding she has helped deliver for state infrastructure projects and votes she has taken to address inflation and rising prices and reduce cost. of medications.

Deaton, a millionaire lawyer practicing in Rhode Island, Marine Corps veteran and former judge advocate general, moved to Massachusetts this year while running for office. He said he would pledge not to support any national abortion ban and said a cornerstone of his platform is establishing nationwide financial literacy courses.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Jake Auchincloss, representing the 4th District, is running unopposed.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Bill Keating, representing the 9th District, faces Republican Dan Sullivan. Keating has been a representative since 2011, previously serving as Norfolk County district attorney and in both chambers of the state Legislature since 1977. He said his goals are to preserve the rights of all Americans and invest in infrastructure.
