Drivers seriously injured after crash with Mack truck leads to rollover collision

MOUND CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Two drivers are fighting for their lives after a Mack truck and a pickup truck crashed, causing a rollover collision on I-29 in Mound City.

He Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that just before 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, emergency crews were called to the area of ​​northbound I-29 and Missouri 118 in Mound City for reports of a 2-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found an 18-year-old man from Oregon, Missouri, who was driving his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado north on the interstate when he ran into a 2013 Mack pickup truck parked on the east shoulder.

State troopers noticed the 18-year-old driver left the road and struck the Mack truck in its left rear while its 58-year-old Fairview, Oklahoma driver was still inside.

Investigators said the impact caused the truck to go off the east side of the interstate, where it overturned and crashed into an embankment. The Mack truck remained stationary during the collision.

Emergency crews said both drivers were taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with life-threatening injuries. At that time both were wearing seat belts. No further information has been released.
